More than 10.7 million man hours registered without Lost Time Injury

Team members of Group Engineering & Projects (GEP) have proudly registered more than 10.7 million man hours without a Lost Time Injury, with a total of 2,131 project safe days. A new HSE record for our Group, it demonstrates the importance of following safety rules on a daily basis.

Between May 2015 to date, GEP registered zero incidents or injuries. A testament to the team’s ongoing professionalism and dedication to upholding the highest workplace safety standards. This remarkable achievement is also a great motivation to all our employees to continue to follow our Group’s HSE rules, which are there to ensure everyone’s protection and prevent workplace injuries, illnesses and fatalities.

In total, the GEP team recorded 10,711,156 safe man hours, a feat that was only achievable thanks to their commitment and expertise alongside the full support of GHSE, our contractors, sub-contractors, vendors, suppliers, consultants and our Group companies and asset owners.

During this record period without any incidents or injuries, HSE inspections were thoroughly carried out at each of the GEP team’s project facilities, with best standards and safety practices observed and all staff encouraged to quickly spot and report any concerns to the appropriate team member.

Monthly health and safety campaigns were also held at the GEP team’s worksites to maintain awareness among all our employees and an enhanced training regime for all GEP staff and contractors was introduced as part of a bespoke curriculum.

Hesham Ali Mustafa, Executive Director of Shared Services, Group HR and New Business Development, said:

“The new HSE performance record was achieved thanks to the concerted and committed efforts of the entire GEP team, which also included work carried out over extended hours, weekends and during public holidays.”

“Promoting an open dialogue surrounding HSE performance and HSE-related matters across different departments and teams is an important process that benefits every employee in our Group,” said Hesham, adding that by designing and deploying behaviour-based safety programmes, such as the STOP unsafe work programme, as well as extensive record-keeping with a focus on identifying, analysing and sharing data trends and indicators, a strong culture of workplace safety is effectively created and consistently enhanced.
